HISTORY OF THE CLARK COUNTY PARK POLICE- The Clark County Park Ranger Division was formed in 1976 after the City of Las Vegas Police Department merged with the Clark County Sheriff's Department, forming the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. There was a need for Park Rangers in the parks to be visible in an effort to reduce vandalism at that time. Over the years, the need for Police Officers became evident due to the rising crimes occurring in the parks and the Clark County Park Police Division was created. Park Police Officers are Category 1 certified Peace Officers and receive the same training as Metro Police Officers. We are affiliated with the Nevada AFL-CIO, Communication Workers of America, National Coalition of Public Safety Officers, Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers, Injured Police Officer's Fund and the Southern Nevada Central Labor Council.
Our association is dedicated to working cooperatively with Clark County to ensure that our parks are a safe place to enjoy many outdoor recreation activities.
